This simple, sleek, fitted striped beanie is infinitely customizable! Use the colors of a favorite sports team, your Harry Potter house colors, or any dark neutral background with a color effect yarn for stripes that really pop.

If you’re not familiar with brioche knitting, it is a technique that involves partially working a row with one color, and then working it again with a second color. This crochet technique works in a somewhat similar fashion, working a row of one color that leaves gaps where you will place the alternating color on the next round. There is no need to cut and tie yarn- it is left hanging between rows while the other color is worked, meaning you should only end up with 4 yarn ends to tuck at the end of your project.

This hat makes use of the “slim brim,” an alternative method of working a hat from the bottom up that I developed in order to create a band that is thin, but still stretchy.

Before you begin, you will need to understand how to identify the “back bump” (not the back loop) of your chain stitches, and how to work into the center of a stitch, as in you would in the center single crochet stitch.

Due to the nature of patterns, no returns can be made; however I am happy to provide pattern support on ravelry or facebook, so please ask if you’re stuck!
