Nova Socks

Nova Socks are cozy, top-down socks featuring a playful twist on broken rib. The textured pattern runs down the front of the leg and continues across the instep, while the back stays smooth and simple.

The socks begin with a ribbed cuff and are worked top-down with a heel flap and short-row heel turn. After the gusset decreases, the textured pattern continues across the instep before finishing with a rounded toe and Kitchener stitch.

34 stitches × 46 rounds = 10 × 10 cm in stockinette stitch, worked in the round on 2.25 mm needles.

Construction

Nova Socks are worked from the cuff down.

The cuff is worked in ribbing before moving into the broken-rib texture. The texture is worked along the front of the leg and instep, while the back remains in plain stockinette.

The heel is worked as a heel flap followed by a short-row heel turn. Stitches are then picked up along the heel flap to form the gusset, which is shaped with decreases before continuing into the foot.

The toe is worked in stockinette and finished using the Kitchener stitch.
