Nuthatch Scarf Crochet Pattern

This pattern is worked in sections of different shell stitches. Pattern includes stitch diagrams and row-by-row written instructions.

The sample shown was made with Twister Solid (colour 121, x2 cakes), and measures 10”x57”. Twister Solid is a sport/fine (#2) weight 55% cotton 45% acrylic yarn, measuring 400m per cake.

Notes:

Quantities of yarn required will vary depending on what you intend to make. This pattern will work in widths of 12x+1.

Materials:

3.5 mm hook
#2 yarn, 800 m (or more for a longer scarf)
Finishing needle
Yarn snips or scissors

Stitches:

Ch chain
FHDC foundation half double crochet (optional)
SC single crochet
HDC half double crochet
DC double crochet
DC2tog double crochet decrease
Puff 5 HDC puff stitch (HDC5tog)

Written instructions included for puff and optional picot stitches.

To make the scarf pictured in this pattern, you will need a 3.5 mm hook and two cakes Twister Solid in colour 121. Finished project is 57” long by 10” wide. Add a third Twister Solid cake or use a Twister (1000m) for a longer scarf.

Alternative widths are provided, for example for a shawl or afghan, but will yield different finished dimensions and yarn requirements.
