A warm fireplace, lit candles, knitting away through Advent: these socks will keep you cozy through this jolly season!

The ‘O Denneboom Socks’ (O Denneboom means ‘o Christmas Tree’ in Dutch) can be knitted for the whole family. Sizes kids, small, medium and large are written down in this pattern. Want to adjust the size? Please note that you always need a multiple of 8 stitches for the colourwork section.

This Advent Pattern is one of the Advent Patterns I design every year for the Online Brei Campus (Online Knitting Campus – Dutch platform).

Yarn
100 (125 for size Large) grams (425 meters) of fingering weight yarn: 50 (75 for size Large) grams in the Main Colour (MC)
25 grams in Contrasting Colour 1 (CC1)
25 grams in Contrasting Colour 2 (CC2)

Samples used: 2 x 25 grams MC (light pink (11) / white (02) / mint (33)), 1 x 25 grams CC1 (red (21) / red (21) / brown (23)), 1 x 25 grams of CC2 (dark green (45)) in Kremke Soul Wool Edelweiss Alpaca (25 grams = 100 meters)

Optional: 2.75 mm (or 3.00 mm), 80 cm circular needle for the colourwork section

Notions

  • 2 stitch markers (plus opening coloured stitch markers / progress keepers when you want to keep track of your rounds)
  • tapestry needle for weaving in your ends

Notes
-This pattern is knitted top-down, using the Magic Loop method of knitting in the round. Of course, you can also use dpn’s or shorties if that’s your preferred method of knitting socks.

  • The pattern gives you options to knit socks in sizes: Kids, (Small, Medium, Large). These sizes are, in EU shoe sizes, approximately: 27-32, (33-37, 38-41, 42-46).
  • If you want to knit another size, be careful that the amount of stitches is always a multiple of 8.

Online Brei Campus
The ‘O Denneboom Socks’ pattern is originally written to accompany the video’s in my Online Brei Campus (Online Knitting Campus). The tutorials are in Dutch. If you are Dutch and want to learn how to knit socks and/or want to learn how to read English (sock) patterns, I advise you to become a member of this Online Campus (https://www.mirjammolenbeek.nl/online-brei-campus/). You have free access to the sock pattern when you are a member (I can’t refund your money when you decide to buy this pattern first, and later on decide to become a member of my Campus).
