I Want It Mittens
Basic mittens for little hands up to large men’s hands, so all my family members and friends can stay warm and toasty during frosty days: that is what I wanted when I decided to write down this pattern. Mittens that are easy and fast enough to knit up as a gift for yourself or a loved one, the moment the cold sets in. A basic pattern you can use again and again, in different sizes and colours.
The title of the pattern is a little word joke for Dutchies: ‘want’ means ‘mitten’ in Dutch.
Notes
- This pattern is for a basic mitten, knitted from the cuff up to the top.
- The pattern is written for the magic loop method of knitting in the round. Of course you can choose to use your preferred method of knitting in the round (pattern support is only for the magic loop method).
- Take notes on how many rounds you are knitting per section on your first mitten, so you can make the second mitten exactly the same in length.
- Video tutorials included: How to work an ssk, how to work a k2tog, how to work a M1L and M1R, how to work a backwards loop cast on, how to pick up a stitch for the thumb section, prevent and/or solve holes. (Videos are in Dutch; use subtitles or auto dubbing in the language of your choice, if needed).
- New to magic loop knitting in the round and/or reading an English knitting pattern? Please check out my online knitting courses, where I teach you step-by-step how to navigate through an English pattern and how to knit magic loop (the Basic Magic Loop Sock Course is a good way to practice, Dutch only): https://www.mirjammolenbeek.nl/cursussen/
