October Butterfly
October Butterfly is the tenth pattern in the 2026: A Year of Butterflies series of large squares. Each month’s design can be made using interlocking crochet or overlay mosaic crochet.
“October Butterfly” is a Red Postman Butterfly. It’s another butterfly that I don’t get to see in Canada but it has such an interesting shape that I wanted to include it in our series!
See more about this year’s monthly square at https://ashleeslint.com/year-of/2026-year-butterflies/.
The Locked Filet Mesh (LFM) interlocking crochet method uses only chain spaces and double crochets to create a mesh; two colors are worked alternately which creates the pattern. YouTube Tutorials
Mosaic crochet uses single crochet and double crochet stitches. The double crochet stitches cover some of the other color’s single crochet stitches to create the design. YouTube Tutorials
