Odette is a summer halter top with a folded twisted-rib neckband and a long I-cord ribbon that threads through the band and ties into the signature bow. The front is carved with short rows into a clean, close neckline.

The top begins with the neckband, worked flat and folded, leaving the left side open for the bow. The back panel is worked down flat, widening with increases; the front panel is worked down with German short rows shaping the neckline, then increases for the bust. The two panels are joined at the underarms with cast-on stitches, and the body is worked in the round to a twisted-rib hem finished with an Italian bind-off. Because it’s worked from the top down, you can try it on as you go and set the length exactly where you want it.

Techniques you’ll need
German short rows, a three-needle join, a backward-loop provisional cast-on and the Italian bind-off — each is written out step by step in the pattern, with photos where the fabric needs to be seen and a video tutorial for the provisional cast-on. Everything else is knit, purl, twisted rib, and simple increases.

Choosing your size
Odette is sized from your upper bust — measured directly below the underarms, above the fullest part of the bust — because that is where the halter actually hangs. Aim for a finished bust about 5 cm (2”) smaller than your upper bust and choose the size closest to that target: if your upper bust measures 88 cm (34¾“), 88 − 5 = 83 cm (32¾”), so size M (finished 85 cm / 33½“) is the closest match. If you’re between sizes, consider sizing down.

The pattern includes instructions for fine-tuning the upper bust at the underarm cast-on, adding width for the full bust with increases, and optional horizontal bust darts for a bust difference over 10 cm (4”). The sample in the photos is size XXS on a model with a 78 cm (30¾“) full bust — worn with 8 cm (3¼”) of negative ease at the full bust.

The pattern also includes guides for adjusting the underarm depth and body length to your own measurements.

Gauge
22 sts × 31 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4 × 4”) in stockinette on 4 mm needles, after washing and blocking. Please swatch, then wash and block before measuring — these blends grow.

Needles
2 sets of 4 mm (US 6) circulars, 80–120 cm depending on size (the second holds the neckband fold during the three-needle join) · 3.5 mm (US 4) circular for the neckband cast-on and the twisted-rib hem · 3.5 mm (US 4) DPNs for the I-cord ribbon.

Yarn
Suggestion 1 (sample): Line by Sandnes Garn (53% cotton, 33% viscose, 14% linen), single strand — 200 (250) 250 (300) 300 (350) 400 (400) 450 (500) g.
Suggestion 2: Tynn Line by Sandnes Garn (same fibre), two strands held together — same gram amounts as Line.
Suggestion 3: Oat Cotton by Ancalls (100% cotton) — 150 (200) 200 (200) 200 (250) 250 (300) 300 (350) g.
Any worsted- or DK-weight cotton or linen blend that meets gauge works (the sample yarn is a light worsted, 110 m per 50 g) — about 440–1100 m (481–1203 yds) depending on size.
