The charm of this plant is all in the fluffy seed heads. I have added some fluff to this ribbed beanie in the form of mohair. Knitted together with 4 ply this makes a hat that is very warm and soft. The 3 stitch i-cord cast-on gives a neat finish and prevents the hat from smothering you. Two options for finishing the centre of the hat are given: one is a simple flat finish and the other is a 4 stitch i-cord stalk growing out of the top of the hat. This stalk can be made short and sweet or as long as you like; it can be tied in a simple knot or stitched down to form a loop. It looks cute on a baby or toddler and this option is included in the range of sizes given.

45-55gm of 4-ply (variegated sock wool works well)
25gm lace-weight mohair, or other fluffy lace-weight yarn.
