This beanie is a copy of one I started at Christmas for my best friend. I knitted it while sitting next to the fireplace enjoying the feeling of a warm fire.

The first time I knit this beanie, I used the color Whale’s Road from the Malabrigo Rios line. I wanted to show off the beautiful colors changes in the yarn without having the result look flat or dull.

Since coming up with this pattern, I’ve knitted it for several people. It’s such an enjoyable pattern to knit while watching TV or sitting by a fire pit.

I’ve knit this particular pattern in several colors. Hollyhock is a great option, as well as Syrah Grapes.

For a more masculine color, I can recommend Cielo Y Tierra.

To be honest, I haven’t found a color that’s terrible with this pattern yet.

This beanie knits up reasonably quick and can be completed in a day if you really commit yourself to the pattern. It typically takes me two days to complete but only because I’m frequently interrupted or distracted.

I created this pattern for two sizes. Either a women’s medium or a men’s medium.

This project uses a provisional cast on and K1B. I’ve included links to videos showing how to do these skills if they are new for you.

While I’ve marked this as an intermediate project, it seems more like an “advanced beginner” pattern in many ways.
