Paatsama is buckthorn in Finnish. I originally designed the leaf pattern for my own, naturally dyed yarn. I got greens from buckthorn leaves and red/brown from the bark.
The socks have been designed for naturally dyed yarns of Renaissance dyeing. They are not dyed with buckthorn, but the colour family is very much alike. The background colour is a very dark blue, which complements the bright leaf pattern beautifully.

Paatsama socks are available as a kit at Renaissance dyeing. The pattern is also be available in the Ravelry store.

If you are using an alternative yarn, you’ll need about 50 - 60 g of the background colour, 25- 30 g of each of the greens and 10 g of red.
