Picnic Vibes
15% off until August 10th!
Summer is short lived here in Alberta, at least where I am. The days stretch to just over 17 hours long at solstice, so we can spend every possible moment enjoying the sun. Picnics combine lounging in the great outdoors with eating, two of my favourite things to do in the summer.
Picnic Vibes uses stripes and a slip-stitch pattern to create a bold contrast between horizontal and vertical bands. Like picnics, it isn’t fussy and pairs well with a beautiful summer day.

Picnic Vibes is knit from the top-down featuring a European Shoulder Seam. The back is worked flat from the back neck to the underarm. The front sides are picked up from the back shoulder seam, and worked separately until joined at the front neck. The front and back are joined at the underarm to be worked in the round to the hem. The sleeves are picked up from the sides of the front and back, and worked in the round down to the cuff.
The approach to the drop shoulder shaping is different across the sizes. This achieves a uniform appearance in the final garment by having the drop shoulder extend past the shoulder more consistently across the full size range.
- Sizes 1 - 4 have a drop shoulder, with the yoke wider than the body to create a sleeve cap.
- Sizes 5 - 9 have a modified drop shoulder, with the yoke that is narrower than the body, requiring a cast-on at the underarm to get to the required body width.
