Plaited Clouds
Made with soft and fluffy DK wool yarn, these adorable ankle socks are perfect for keeping your feet warm in the colder months, as thick white clouds start to take over the sky. The top ribbing can be cuffed for a slipper-like look, with the plaited cable presenting a simple but elegant focal point. Recommended actives for these socks include reading, cuddling with pets, drinking hot beverages, and sitting by the fire.
Have I used the word “hygge” yet? Maybe I should use the word “hygge”.
Sizes
There are four sizes in the pattern: 1 (18cm / 7.25” foot circumference), 2 (20cm / 8” foot circumference), 3 (22.5cm / 9” foot circumference), and 4 (25cm / 10” foot circumference). Note that the sizes listed are measured around the sock, so find your size by measuring your foot and then subtracting 10%.
Yarn and Yardage
The original sample was knit in Alley Cat Yarns Polwarth DK in Pillow Drift (the speckled sample). Polwarth DK has since been discontinued, so when updating this pattern I knit the second sample in Midknit Cravings Yarn Co. Comfort Sport in Vanilla (the pure white sample).
About 140-240 yards of DK weight sock yarn is needed for this pattern, unless lengthening the ribbed cuff.
Notions
Needles (DPN’s or circulars), a cable needle, darning needle, stitch markers, and sock blockers.
Techniques
Basic knowledge of cuff down, in the round, heel flap and gusset sock construction and cabling are needed for this pattern.
