Poseable Unicorn Doll
DIY Poseable Unicorn Knitting Pattern - Small, Cute, Quick & Easy Unicorn Pattern
Learn to knit this cute magical unicorn.
THE PATTERN is four pages long, written in English and includes:
• Row numbers for each step so you can tick off each row and keep your place
• Instructions for making the unicorn
• Photos for clarification
• A list of materials, abbreviations and techniques.
TECHNIQUES:
The body is knitted flat, the limbs are knitted using the i-cord method, the magical unicorn horn and ears are knitted separately. You will need to cast on and off, knit, purl, work increases and decreases, and sew seams using the mattress stitch. This pattern uses short rows for shaping (turning mid-way through the line) and this is fully explained with photos to guide you. You will also learn how to insert wire to make the doll poseable.
Photo instructions are provided for embroidering the facial details and creating the hair.
WHAT YOU NEED
• 2 double-pointed 2.5 mm knitting needles
• 2.5mm crochet needle
• Tapestry needle & Scissors
• 4ply Fingering/Sports: Unicorn Main Colour & Contrasting Colour
• Scraps of wool roughly 20cm/8’’ in length for the hair
• Wool or embroidery thread for the facial features: Eye Colour/Nose Colour
• Soft washable stuffing – I use the end of a 4mm crochet needle to aid with pushing and moulding the stuffing
• 4 metal, plastic coated twist ties (the dimensions of the ones I use are 150mmx2.2mm). The most important thing here is to ensure that you have good quality wire that is flexible, easy to pose and will endure. The plastic coating will not only ensure safety, but will be very helpful when it comes to inserting the wire into the limbs.
FINISHED SIZE: Depending on your knitting tension, the doll will measure roughly 18cm/7’’ in height, including the length of her magical unicorn horn
