This is one of my very favorite shawl designs. It is part of my half pi(e) series. I think it would make a great cast on for Pi Day. Encoded into the lace are the words “Pumpkin” and “Pie”. Don’t worry. It looks harder than it is. The lace always has a resting row. The part I love the most? The ruffled edge that evokes the look of pinched pie crust.

Nothing says autumn quite like Pumpkin Pie. This half-pi shawl is the perfect fall accessory. Knit in a luxurious DK-weight yarn, it will keep off the chill of those brisk fall evenings. The warm orange color evokes the aroma of pumpkin pie spices. Pumpkin Pi features my technique of encoded lace. The lace repeats are easy to memorize and the ruffled edge is like the crimped edges of a homemade pie crust.

Thank you for coming along on my journey through pi.
