Getting ready to do one of my favorite fall 5k runs and wanted a little something to go with the pumpkin theme, so I whipped up this cute pumpkin ear warmer with yarn I had in stash. I thought others might enjoy it too!

You can use any worsted weight yarn you like. I used Knit Picks Wool of the Andes (Pumpkin) and a discontinued yarn from Lion Brand for the green.

You’ll need a 16” circular needle. I used a US size 8/5.0 mm for the whole thing, but if you prefer your ribbing to be a bit more snug, you will also need a 16” circular in one or two sizes smaller. Gauge isn’t terribly important, but you want a fabric you’re happy with and that allows a little stretch so it will fit your head. My finished size is approximately 4” tall and 17” around without stretching.

With orange yarn, cast on 80 stitches. Place a marker and join to work in the round.
Work 2x2 ribbing (K2, P2) for 5 rows.
If you used a smaller needle for the ribbing, swap to the larger needle now.
Knit for 2”.
If you used a smaller needle for the original ribbing, swap back to that size now.
Work 2x2 ribbing for 3 rows. Switch to green yarn.
Work 2x2 ribbing for 2 more rows.
Cast off in pattern.
Weave in ends.
