Most of this project is worked flat, starting from the bottom with linen stitch, then separating fronts from back and working up to the shoulders in garter stitch. Shoulders are grafted together and the front edging is added. Sleeves are picked up and worked in stockinette with German short rows for shaping and then finished in the round.

Yarn selection
This design comes out best in a speckled yarn. Use a superwash Aran weight yarn (166m/182 yards per 100g) for MC and a slightly lighter (I used worsted 192m/210 yards per 100g) for the crochet braid under the bust.
Yardage is
MC 98%
CC 2%

Gauge
Gauges vary across the pattern, but since the jacket is loose-fitting it doesn’t have to be exactly the same as mine. My gauges were:
Linen stitch: 22 sts x 34 rows.
Garter gauge: 18 sts x 24 rows
1x1 ribbing: 18 sts x 24 rows
Stockinette: 18 sts x 22 rows

Needles and notions
You will need circular needles of various lengths, from 40cm/16 inches and up (depending on size). You will also need DPNs or straight needles for grafting plus a crochet hook for the CC braid.
Strings of scrap yarn for holding front/back, marker, a wool needle for grafting.
2 buttons.

Testers rated pattern difficulty 4-5/10.
