Realistic Little Cat Loaf
Cats are capable of being so many wonderful shapes, but relatively few of these are featured in cat amigurumi. How about a pattern for one of the most classic Cat Shapes: this adorable shape they turn into when they feel safe and content, their legs disappear into the void of fluff beneath them, and they become nothing but a furry loaf of bread? Now you can make this shape of kitty with yarn! And it’s completely no-sew, too!
You will need:
Yarn in whatever colour you want your cat to be
A hook of appropriate size for your yarn (or one size down, recommended)
Scrap amount of somewhat darker or pinkish yarn to embroider nose
Safety eyes (the smaller the better) / more scrap yarn of black/eye colour to embroider eyes
(or embroidery floss for the embroidered details)
Stuffing
Weighted pellets (optional)
Wire (optional)
Yarn needle
Scissors
Stitch markers (optional)
Any weight of yarn with a matching hook size should work for this pattern. With DK yarn, the pattern will use about 8g of yarn, and your finished cat loaf will be about 8cm (3in) from nose to butt.
Stitches you’ll need to know:
magic ring (the chain 2 method is fine too)
single crochet (sc)
increase (inc)
3 single crochet in 1 (3sc in 1)
decrease (dec)
single crochet 3 together (sc3tog)
chain (ch)
slip stitch (ss)
half double crochet (hdc)
front/back loop only (FLO/BLO)
