Looking for a gift for the humourous person in your life? Make them a reindeer butt coaster! This can also work as an appliqué - it is nice and flat! Or you could make it for yourself to have a fun piece of decor to break out for the holidays.

This coaster is made using cotton yarn and features a reindeer peeking around at you from behind. This is an advanced pattern - it includes invisible joins, slip stitching into the edge of your work, branched chains/slip stitches (antlers), working in the back bump of a chain, embroidering, color-changing, and assembling. There are 40 pictures, explanations of special stitches, and a link to the more complicated invisible join to make it much easier to tackle in the PDF pattern. This pattern includes many pictures detailing each step. For those who want to print but are ink-conscious, you’ll be happy to know that photos are labeled and at the end of the document, making it easy to print without them.

While gauge is not very important for this project (as long as your cup fits in it!), I get a diameter of 4 inches when the body is completed. You will need significantly less than a skein for each coaster (I would estimate you could get 8 coasters from the main colors, depending on your tension).
