I created these headbands as holiday gifts for some family friends’ kids, and they turned out great! Super fast, too. The way the sizing works is for the Adult/Teen, Child, and Baby headbands, it’s the exact same base headband pattern, just a different number of stitches. The Baby Ear Warmer headband is like the Baby headband, but it has more rows, so it can keep your little one’s ears cozy. There are completely separate patterns for the Beautiful Butterfly, the Cute Caterpillar, and the Pretty Bow. They are appliques, which you sew onto the completed headband. (All patterns, as well as instructions for attaching the appliques, are included in the Ravelry download for this page). In the pictures, the blue Adult headband and the purple Child headband both have the Beautiful Butterfly, the green Baby Ear Warmer has the Cute Caterpillar, and the purple Baby Headband has the Pretty Bow. However, you can make any size of headband with any of the decorations.

For a headband ONLY, you will need:
(Yarn) Brightly colored sport weight yarn w/ good stitch definition (1 color)
(Tools) US 6 (4.0mm) circular needles, scissors
(Skills) Knit, purl, long tail cast on (or other non-stretchy cast on), bind off

For the Cute Caterpillar, you will need:
(Yarn) Brightly colored sport weight yarn (2 colors), black worsted weight scrap yarn, black embroidery floss
(Tools) US 3 (3.25mm) straight needles, scissors, tapestry needle
(Skills) Knit, cast on, yarn over, bind off, basic in-and-out hand sewing

For the Beautiful Butterfly, you will need:
(Yarn) Brightly colored sport weight yarn (2 colors), black worsted weight scrap yarn
(Tools) US 3 (3.25mm) straight needles, scissors, tapestry needle
(Skills) Knit, PROVISIONAL cast on, yarn over, bind off, basic in-and-out hand sewing

For the Pretty Bow, you will need:
(Yarn) Brightly colored sport weight yarn (1 color)
(Tools) US 3 (3.5mm) straight needles, scissors, tapestry needle
Knit, cast on, bind off, basic in-and out hand sewing
