This is a simple dinosaur themed beanie for kids. It is knitted-in-the-round and so requires a 3.75mm/US size 5, 16 inch/40cm circular needle and a set of 4 dpns to match.
The band is composed of a simple slip stitch pattern using two different yarns. I suggest a wool or wool blend yarn that is not prickly. (Acrylics should be ok). Full viscose yarns such as bamboo are too drapey, but a 50/50 blend with wool would be OK.
The crown looks great with a self striping yarn, but a plain yarn would work fine. Wool or a high-percentage wool blend are best, especially for horns. There is some hand sewing needed to attach the horns to the crown.
Included with the pattern is an introduction to circular knitting as well as techniques and abbreviations.
I have used photos were necessary as well as full instructions for beginners.
The gauge is 22 sts to 10cm or 5 1/2 sts to 1 inch over stockingstitch (stockingnette).
Lengths are given in metric and imperial units.
Yardage for larger size is approximately 250m/275 yards.
SKILL LEVEL: beginner with some experience with circular knitting.
