Rosalind Hat
This hat is an evolution of a design I first knitted for my mother several years ago. She loved it so much that she requested a second version in a different colour. Since then, I’ve reworked the shaping and styling multiple times, refining the details with each iteration.
The hat is cast on, on the inside of the brim, and knitted outwards first. It is then turned and knitted back to join the two sides of the brim together. Then it is worked upwards to the top.
The hat is fitted most closely around the brim, and features increasing positive ease towards the top to allow for a slouchy fit, and for the flat crown to remain flat.
This pattern is rated intermediate, owing to the combination of increases, decreases, picking up stitches, chrysalis techniques, and working in the round using magic loop or DPNs. The Chrysalis stitch and joining the brim both have explanatory videos within the pattern.
