Ruby Hat is a warm, classic hat featuring a soft and cosy brioche texture. Made with merino wool, it is available in five sizes for children and adults.
The hat is worked in the round from the bottom up, starting with a folded brim, followed by the brioche body and shaped crown.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS

• 3 mm US 2.5 circular needles (40 cm 16 in) or size needed to obtain the correct gauge
• 3 mm US 2.5 circular needles (80 or 100 cm 32 or 40 in) or 3 mm US 2.5 DPNs for working the smallest rounds
• for size Toddler: 3 mm US 2.5 circular needles (25 cm 10 in) or 3 mm US 2.5 DPNs for working the first rounds
• stitch markers (including one in a contrasting color for working the hat in the round)
• yarn needle
• measuring tape

GAUGE:

The gauge swatch was worked in brioche stitch in rows using 3 mm US 2.5 needles and measured as follows:

• before blocking: 5 × 5 cm 2 × 2 in = 9 sts × 14.5 rows
• after blocking: 5 × 5 cm 2 × 2 in = 7.3 sts × 14 rows

The number 9 / 7.3 sts indicates the number of stitches in brioche stitch. Yarn overs are part of the stitch and are not included in the stitch count given in the pattern.

29 / 28 rows of brioche stitch are counted as 14.5 / 14 rows.

Make and block a swatch. If your gauge is looser than stated gauge, use smaller needles or work more tightly. If it is tighter, use larger needles or work more loosely.
