Saara Scarf
I’m the designer of this scarf. I wanted a long, garter stitch-based scarf but some of the very popular versions out there are a little too plain for me. Inspired by a traditional Estonian lace motif, I created a version with enough detail to hold your attention and yet still simple to knit.
Traditional Estonian nupps often incorporate 7 stitches. Given the nature of this yarn (and to make the p7tog easier) I changed it to 5 stitches for the nupp.
Any DK yarn will work but something very soft with some drape (alpaca or silk) will make the scarf more elegant and something you’ll want to wear daily.
For my sample, I held Mayu with Rico Make it Perlchen to add a little sparkle. This is totally optional and the occasional beads do not change the softness of the Mayu.
Special Note: If you purchase this pattern, you will also receive the PDF for Saara Scarf Sport, a sport-weight version of this design.
