Sahara shawl is a bold and dramatic accent and makes a fashion statement with just two gorgeous colours.

I have also knit a blanket in this style for my husband:

Mosaic knitting is incredibly beautiful and amazingly simple, nothing to fear and wonderful to learn! All the stitches are basic and the Mosaic effect is achieved through the simplest of slipped stitches and working with only one colour in each row.

Easy Peasy, I promise. Even beginners will find this fun and simple to do.

Pattern instructions are written out in full, row by row.

There are also charts to follow if you are a chart knitter. But if you aren’t you can just skip over them and ignore them completely.

Yarns used:
Both samples are knit with Malabrigo Rios. Pure Merino Superwash. 100 grams,192 meters/210 yards. (9 wpi).
Sample # 1 -Yarn (A) 3 skeins Matisse Blue # 415 (30 grams leftover).
-Yarn (B) 3 skeins Black # 195 (37 grams leftover).
Sample # 2 -Yarn (A) 3 skeins Sand Bank # 131 (30 grams leftover).
-Yarn (B) 3 skeins Piedras # 862 (20 grams leftover).

The amounts of yarn used are based on my samples for the design but will depend on the yarn you choose, variations in yarn thickness of each colour, your personal gauge/tension and any changes made.

Needles and supplies:
5 mm/US 8 circular needles 120 cm/ 47” for sides of shawl. Or size required to obtain gauge.
5 mm/US 8 straight needles (or shorter circulars) for Mosaic section.
4 stitch markers.
Tapestry needle.

Thanks so much to my tech editor and fabulous testers who help me write the best pattern possible.

A big thank you to Malabrigo Yarns for your continued and enthusiastic support of my designs.
