Sand Matte
Sand Matte is a simple knit mat worked in linen stitch. The pattern is meant to be used as a base recipe to make any size of mat. Instructions are given for how to make a simple coaster for either a mug (10 x 10 cm) or teapot (14x14 cm). The two sizes also have different thickness. Both thickness of matte is worked with the same needle size but you use either single or double strands of yarn.
You can easily vary the mats to make smaller or larger sizes for example to make a table cover, door-mat or even a rug if you have the patience. Use your imagination!
See tips for instructions on how to scale the pattern to a custom size.
The red mug-coasters in the pictures in the pattern are knit in HipKnitShop HipWool in the color Very Berry Red. Each of these coasters weigted 7-8 g, which means that you get about 6 coasters from a single ball of yarn. These coasters have the medium thickness. The teapot coaster is knit in double strand of jute in the thick version.
