A quick and versatile knit, ideal to make a last minute, easy to post gift, or for trying out stranded colour work knitting.

It can be filled with dried lavender and popped in wardrobes and drawers to smell sweet and discourage moths. Crafters can keep one in their project bags, doubling up as a needle/pin holder. Left unstuffed with a stiff insert, it would make a great coaster ( you could make a set in different colours! )

Small amounts of leftovers from other projects ( 4 ply ) in four different colours are all that is needed to knit Sea Dog. One in a dark colour, and three in lighter shades. When I say small amounts, the whole thing weighed only approximately 1/4 oz before stuffing. I added some No. 8 seed beads to eyes and nose, to make them pop, but this is entirely optional.

I originally intended to make this on 2mm needles, but as I couldn’t find mine, I used 1.75mm, and it came out a nice close knit, size : 3” square. Larger needles and thicker yarns could be used, and the piece would be bigger.
