A charted pattern to knit a pair of wrist warmers in stranded colourwork, with the option of adding beads. There are no long floats in this quick knit. It would be a good introduction to knitting with two colours in the round, and adding beads with a crochet hook. Also they would make ideal gifts as they knit up very quickly and would be easy to pop in the post. I chose to work a twisted rib for the cuff, as the spiny ridges remind me of the texture of sea horses.

The wrist warmers only use a small amount of yarn, so are ideal for using left overs. Two 20g mini skeins in well contrasting colours would be more than enough; my pair weighed 28 grams in total. If you want a splash of accent yarn in the two colour cast on, you will also need a couple of yards of bright 4 ply yarn to contrast with the main colour. The pair in the first photo was knitted in Indigo yarn from The Border Tart, left over from my link textHeart in Hand Mitts.

Gauge: 17 stitches and 18 rows = 2” over stranded colourwork on 2.5mm needles. The wrist warmers measure 5 1/2” tall and are approximately 6 1/2” in circumference. To lengthen, just add more rounds of ribbing, or more plain stocking stitch before or after the chart. For larger or smaller hands, you may try changing up or down a needle size.

Useful techniques to look up before starting:
Adding beads to knitting, with a crochet hook.
Two coloured long tail cast on. (Both are optional)
Knitted picot hem.
