This pattern was designed with a matching baby blanket - the Sérac Blanket. Bundle both patterns together for $8.00 - the discount is taken automatically when you add both patterns to your cart.

Sérac is a fingering weight hat sized for newborns and infants which decreases perfectly into a flower-like crown. The geometric motif is based on Barbara Walker’s “Northern Lights” but has been rewritten to be worked fully on the right side of the piece. Full tutorials are available for the Left Twist and Right Twist stitches, as well as the specific cast on used in the sample photos.

This pattern has now been expanded to include child and adult sizes.

“Sérac is a mountaineering term for the pillars of ice that precariously tower over the glaciers of the world’s highest mountains. I dream about what kind of adventures my baby will grow up to have and to me this stitch pattern looks like spires of ice guarding a narrow path. Perhaps one day we’ll be climbing up to those alpine heights to see them together!”
