Sharon on the Trail is a Mystery Knit-a-long that begins July 21, and you will receive one clue per week for 6 weeks. Join us in the Casapinka Group for color opinions and mkal chat.

Receive our occasional newsletter here and come to Arizona or Antarctica with us!

As Sharon and The Boss are off in France hiking (not together THANK JESUS! -SFS), you may get various updates as they are getting unpredictable wifi. Like, perhaps there will be some surprises for you on the way!

The shawl is a new shape for us and we are keeping the stitches more simple this year for the most part. This is because you’re gonna be hiking with Sharon and will need to pay attention to the trail and to helping Sharon solve her mystery related to international security - at least that’s what I’m told but the cat IS known to exaggerate. ( I DONT ZAGGERATE YOU ARE TOO DAMN CALM BOUT PORTANT STUFF! )

Update from Sharon: “I can tell you that the perp we are after is guisin himself as a hiker. We have a lotta eyes on the trails and the case and are termined to busticate this gobshite. We’ll prolly need your help so you gotta keep yer head on right and BE READY if yer gonna do this.”

Requirements
4 colors of fingering weight yarn. We don’t have specific amounts figured out for diff sizes so 400 for each skein is nice and safe.

We used a 3 colored fade with a contrast color that is used more sparingly (First kit, above.) Our fade doesn’t have a ton of contrast but contrasting yarns are also great if you want to use them. We have 2 speckles in ours but use whatever you want.

For those on a budget, this would be a very cool pattern to go to the Salvation Army and frog gray or beige sweaters and use them! It would also be very cool done out of your favorite scraps. Or just go to any bargain shop and get some yarn. Per Sharon AIN’T NO ROOM FOR YARN SNOBS WHEN WE GOT MORE PORTANT THINGS TO THINK BOUT. ALSO TELL EM MY FAVORITE FLAK JACKET IS CRYLIC

People always have a million questions for an MKAL and we get angry emails every year when we won’t tell you more. Some people aren’t well suited for an MKAL and are better to wait until the end so please - we aren’t giving hints, won’t send you a clue early if you’re traveling, alter the pattern for your 5 year old canary etc (YEAH SPECIALLY NOT FOR NO DAMN CANARY!) This is the spirit of an MKAL, to just give up control a bit and take a risk (it’s yarn so let’s be real, it’s not that big of a risk!)

Final size…Yeah, nice try! Don’t worry, you’ll get guidance as you go along and it should fit everyone with the guidance we will give you. If you want it larger to fit around a bigger bust or just to wrap more generously, we’ll tell you what to do and when.

When you purchase the pattern, you will get a schematic to try out color combinations. You might not take Sharon literally, however, as it’s just a guide.

Bon Chemin from The Boss (doing the Chemin de Compestelle with her kid)
And LATER DRAMA QUEENZ FROM ME - SHARON FROM SECURITY (not doin no Chemin thing, just here in France with Interpol tryin to track down this gobshite security threat but can’t say more right now)
