The name comes from a snowmobiling technique to traverse across hills with one ski tipped in the air. It was especially necessary in spring time when the trails were melting sideways. The colours I chose for this original pair remind me of the forests back home that I rode through, especially the spring when the lichen turns bright but the shadows in pines don’t have a golden glow filtering through. So it’s especially fitting that these little things are perfect for spring!

These are the coziest pair of fingerless gloves I have made yet. I wanted to make something that wouldn’t interfere with my other layers. Something that wouldn’t get snagged over my watch and wouldn’t bunch up when wearing long sleeves or coat cuffs. They are currently designed to end at the base of my fingers so there is a wider range of movement (I can even knit in these quite comfortably). If you like something longer over the fingers, just add a few more rows in pattern before beginning the final ribbing. They are knit from the cuffs (wrist) up and in the round so you can try them on as you go and see what makes you happy. They fit snuggly, yet stretch to accommodate most hands. For a larger or looser size, knit with US 2/3.00mm instead of the 2.75mm. The length is perfect for wearing with long sleeves. They fit right in your pocket so you can take them everywhere.

The colourwork is charted, the ribbing is only in the written instructions.
