I made this hat for the American Heart Association Little Hats, Big Hearts project which raises awareness of babies born with Congenital Heart Disease.

This Simple DC Ribbed Beanie is an excellent project for beginners! It is worked flat using double crochet stitches and seamed together using slip stitches, making it a simple and quick hat to work up. The hat is worked in the back loops, which gives the nice ribbing look and a lot of stretch.

I chose to use a size G-hook which helped to make the hat a bit denser. As this is a sport weight/ lightweight yarn, the trade off here is a warmer, cleaner looking finished product.

Although ideal for preemies and newborns, you can easily adjust the size to fit anyone by simply adding stitches and rows.

To add a little flair, securely adorn with a pom pom.

Happy crocheting!!!
