This is one of my madder ideas - a very long cowl, knit in the round, in double-knit. The pattern calls for two skeins (800 yards each) of lace-weight yarn in different colors, a 40” (100cm) 2.75mm (US 2) circular needle, and 64 stitch markers. The gauge is only a suggestion.

The pattern is primarily charts. There is one chart with the whole design. There are two slightly larger charts and two charts showing both knit and purl stitches, each showing half the design. The charts show only dark and light.

If managing 1280 stitches per row (and 84 inches/213.4 cm) seems too much, you might want to cut it down to 3 repeats instead of the suggested 4. I used stitch markers of 3 types: 4 to mark the repeats, 4 to mark the midway point of each repeat, and 56 to mark out 10 columns on the chart.
