Spica Hat is part of the Lodestar Collection, a series of designs exploring texture, cables, and colourwork through evolving stitch languages.

The design centres on the sculpted Spica cable motif, a textured pattern that draws the fabric inward as it develops, creating depth and structure without heaviness. The cables rise in gentle architectural curves, forming a fabric that is both visually striking and relaxing to knit.

Designed for the whole family, the hat begins with a soft 2×2 ribbed brim that can be worn folded for extra warmth or flat for a cleaner silhouette. The rib flows seamlessly into the cable pattern before shaping into a structured crown. An optional pom-pom may be added for a playful finish.

Suitable for confident beginners through to experienced knitters, the pattern includes both charted and written instructions to guide you through the cable sequence.

The Spica Hat is written for two yarn weights, allowing the same design to be worked for different seasons while maintaining the same underlying structure.

The hat pairs beautifully with the coordinating Spica Cowl, and can also be combined with other designs from the Lodestar collection.
