Spring Sorrel is the cropped tee version of our Sorrel sweater, designed around the same textured yoke but reworked for a closer, cropped fit in DK. The circular dip stitch yoke radiates from the neckline and blends into stockinette for easy knitting.
Short sleeves and cropped length make it especially easy to pair with dresses, skirts, and high waisted jeans. Tonal solids and gentle speckles both work beautifully here and really highlight the yoke texture.
Design Details
Spring Sorrel is designed with a close, body skimming fit and a cropped length that sits naturally at the small of the waist. The shaping keeps the sweater neat through the shoulders and torso so the yoke remains the focal point.
The short sleeves and tidy proportions give it a modern vibe that layers easily under jackets and over dresses. Optional waist shaping allows you to contour the fit further if you want a more tailored look.
Pattern Highlights
- Top down construction lets you adjust length easily
- Circular textured yoke keeps knitting engaging
- Cropped, close fit layers easily and wears comfortably
- Customizable shaping tutorials included for fit adjustments
Construction Overview
Spring Sorrel is worked from the top down in the round.
The sweater begins with the neckline ribbing followed by the dip stitch yoke. After the yoke is complete, stitches are divided for sleeves and the body continues in the round to the desired length.
Optional waist shaping can be added. Sleeves are then picked up and worked in the round. Both sleeves and hem are finished with twisted ribbing.
Yarn Notes
We knit our samples in Merino DK by Sugarplum Circus. The yarn has a plump hand and excellent stitch definition, which helps the dip stitches stay crisp and visible.
Yardage: 231 yds (211 m) / 100g skein
DK weight yarns with good stitch definition will give the best results. Tonal colorways especially highlight the yoke texture, but solids and light speckles also work well.
