The inspiration for the Stay Wild Mittens comes from my proximity to the Rocky Mountains. Every trip I have taken to these amazing mountains has been soul cleansing. As I stare into the trees with the mountains behind them, I just want to wander through them, build a cabin, unplug every device I own and Stay Wild.

SKILLS USED: Knitting in the round, stranded knitting, thumb construction

SIZES: Adult S/M (M/L)

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Approx. length 7 ½ (8 ½) inches/19 (22) cm from top of cuff to tip of mitten; approx. circumference, not stretched: 7 ½ (8 ½) inches/19 (22) cm

Colour choices are very important in this type of design. If the colours are too close then the definition in the design is lost. Also, if both yarns have a variegation or multi-colours the design will be lost in the competing colours. It’s best to choose contrasting rather than complimentary colours. A way to check for contrast is to take a photo of the yarns together and change the image black and white.
