Suiren is a delicate summer scarf featuring a pretty crocheted motif, delicate fountain lace, a simple border and a funky fringe.

Designed for the 2020 Progress, Hope & Happiness Collection Tokyo Bound, Suiren was inspired by the Lake Knit Yarns Hope & Dreams mini skein set and the lovely water features found in Japanese gardens.

The scarf is made up of Suiren motifs, worked in rounds, joined by fountain lace, worked in rows in both directions from a central motif. The lace is interrupted at various intervals by additional motifs. The stone borders are then crocheted down each side of the scarf and finally the funky nickel & dime fringe is added at each end.

The sample is approximately 90 inches by 4 inches (230 cm by 10 cm) but the scarf can be customized by using more or fewer motifs and by varying the length of the lace sections between motifs.

The pattern has been technically edited by Carmen Nuland of calledtodesign.com
