The Sweet Socks are a basic pair of socks knit top down. They start with the cuffs in 2x2 ribbing, then the leg is worked straight in stockinette stitch until desired length. Short rows are used to form the heel, with the option to make a deep heel modification. The foot is then worked straight until the toe, that is shaped with decreases on each side. Finally, the end of the sock is closed by grafting the remaining stitches together.

This design can be worked up either with small circular needles, with double pointed needles or magic loop. It is an easy pattern suitable for a first dip into sock knitting.

The pattern has been tested.

Les Sweet Socks sont des chaussettes tricotées en rond de haut en bas. On commence par la cheville en côtes 2x2, puis on tricote la tige tout droit en jersey jusqu’à la longueur désirée. Le talon est fait avec des rangs raccourcis, avec la possibilité de faire une modification pour accommoder un fort cou de pied. Le pied est ensuite tricoté en jersey jusqu’à atteindre les orteils, où la pointe est formée par des diminutions de chaque côté. Enfin, l’extrémité de la chaussette est fermée avec un remaillage.

Ce patron peut être tricoté soit avec des aiguilles mini circulaires, soit des aiguilles double pointe, ou encore des longues aiguilles circulaires avec la technique du Magic loop.

Le patron a été testé.
