The Cover is knitted in the round from the bottom up. The front and back are then knitted separately in the flat for the section illustrating the heart. The heart is knitted using the stranded technique. An insert opening is knitted at the back, featuring a knitted dome band with a picot edge and the insert opening is closed using domes, which are sewn to the inner aspect. The front and back are then joined in the round, and following decrease shaping a collar is knitted in 1 x 1 ribbing with a contrast colour edge.
Illustrations of the construction are provided in the pattern.

Two hot water bottle covers can be knitted with 2 balls of each colour, where the Main colour becomes the contrast colour for the second hottie
