Here is a luxurious pair of feather-light wrist warmers or long cuffs to quickly knit for cool summer evenings or to add warmth on an autumn afternoon. Each piece is knit in a rectangle, in a simple two-color striped garter stitch without increases or decreases and is seamed to form a tube. A thin border in a contrasting color defines the clean geometric lines. Instructions are written for an average adult wrist circumference.

Inspired by Shibui Knit’s “Shibui Mix No.20” cowl (copyright Shibui Knits 2010), these soft-as-clouds cuffs perfectly complement the cowl, and were designed to make use of ample yardage remaining after completion of that project. The pattern calls for six skeins total - one each of three colors in both Shibui’s Cima and Silk Cloud - but sufficient yardage exists for 5-6 sets of wrist warmers. Like colors of each type of yarn are double-stranded throughout. The superbaby alpaca, fine merino, kid mohair and silk combine for pillowy loft and weightless comfort. Many color combinations are available in the Shibui product line (see photograph for a few examples.) The pattern contains notes for shortening or lengthening the cuffs according to your whim. Enjoy!
