Texture Garden
Texture Garden is the shawl for that one lonely skein of hand dyed fingering weight yarn that you have no idea what to do with. Maybe you picked it up at a craft fair from an independent dyer, or it was an impulse buy from the new stock your local yarn store just got in, or maybe it’s been laying around in your stash so long you’ve forgotten where it came from. The textured stitches are designed to show off those beautiful variegated color changes, with rows of mesh in between to give the shawl an airy drape.
Materials
Yarn- 380-400 yards of any fingering weight
My shawl was knit with Baah Yarns La Jolla, but you can use any fingering weight yarn that will block well. I enjoy the look of a variegated yarn, but a solid or tonal would also show off the texture quite nicely.
Needles- US 4 (3.5mm)
Other Notions- Tapestry needle, Cable needle, Blocking pins
Gauge
6 sts and 8 rows = 1 in
Gauge is not crucial for this shawl, but you may need to adjust the yardage if you are a loose knitter.
Finished Measurements
Approximately 13 inches (33 cm) deep at middle point and 52 inches (132 cm) long across top edge.
