The Crescent Tote
A made-to-measure structured raffia tote worked in the round from an oval base. Dense, sculptural, and made in a weekend. Free — always.
Construction: Worked in the round from a foundation chain, building an oval base with corner increases, then straight up for the body. Handles are worked as foundation single crochet chains attached directly to the top edge, then finished with edging rounds.
Sizing: Made to measure — your foundation chain determines the base width, your increase rounds determine the depth and body width, and your straight rounds determine the height. Make it exactly the size you want.
Yarn: Premier Raffia in Cacao, held double throughout. Any bulky ribbon raffia held double will work — avoid round or twisted raffia for best results. Four rolls required.
Hook: 9.0mm throughout.
