The River Bank Socks
First pattern of The Wind in the Willows collection
The River Bank Socks are inspired by the first chapter of The Wind in the Willows, by Kenneth Grahame.
Construction
They feature a beautiful but simple cable on the side of the foot. They are knit cuff down and have a heel flap and gusset.
Sizes
The pattern includes 3 adult sizes, S, M, L based on leg and foot circumference. The length of the cuff and the foot is adjustable.
Finished measurements
Leg length: 10cm / 4” from the cuff to the start of the heel.
Leg and foot circumference : 15cm /6” (18cm / 7”, 20cm / 8”)
Gauge
36 stitches and 48 rows per 10 cm/4 inches, in stockinette stitch in the round.
The tight gauge ensures durability.
Yarn
You will need approximately 70g (80g,100g) of fingering weight yarn.
I used Gepard Garn Cash Sock (70% Merino 20% Nylon/Polyamide 10% Cashmere goat) – 416m / 455 yards per 100 grams in the Jade Dreams (818) colourway.
Needles
Please use whatever needle size you need to achieve gauge.
I used 2,25mm needles / US 1 circular needles.
