This is an advanced beginner pattern that uses the Granny Spike Stitch and 6 colors of yarn to create a textured, gradient beanie. The join included in this pattern is almost invisible, and photos are included to show how to do both the stitch repeat and the join.

Utilizing an ombre-type gradient really highlights this patterns’ texture and waviness, but other color combinations would be beautiful and the possibilities are endless.

Included in the pattern are also photo tutorials for the Granny Spike Stitch as well as the way I do a brim, which is a modification of a half double crochet worked in the 3rd loop.

Once you get the hang of the stitch and the join, this hat works up very fast and turns out a wonderfully shaped and easy-to-make beanie.
