Using Different Yarns

Plant fibres such as cotton and linen tend to be less elastic and may produce a more structured fabric, while acrylic and some wool blends generally hold their shape and grow less after blocking. Because of this, your stitch gauge may vary depending on the yarns you choose.
The Typewriter Cardigan is very stash-friendly and works well with many different yarn combinations. Mixing fibres and textures can create a unique fabric while still achieving the desired silhouette.
Before starting your cardigan, it is recommended to knit a 10 × 10 cm swatch using the Typewriter Method. This will help you understand how your chosen yarn behaves, especially if it grows or relaxes after blocking.
Once your swatch is complete, measure how many stitches fit into 1 cm across the fabric. You can then calculate your cast-on by multiplying this number by the finished width you would like to achieve.
