Make your own Tasmanian Tiger (aka Thylacine)! Hunted to extinction in the 19th and early 20th centuries, the last Thylacine died alone in a zoo in 1936. Since then, this beautiful creature - the largest marsupial carnivore of the modern era - has served as a symbol of our responsibility to stem the tide of extinction.

The 48 page pattern includes detailed step-by-step photos and clear written instructions to make an amigurumi-style Thylacine. PLUS there is a 16 page printer-friendly TEXT ONLY version at the end of the pattern. This pattern has been fully tested by multiple testers. Includes yarn amounts and hook sizes to make a Thylacine using worsted weight yarn.

Recommended for INTERMEDIATE SKILL LEVEL. This pattern uses basic crochet stitches and more complex stitches (detailed in the pattern glossary). The markings on the body and legs use colorwork/tapestry crochet. This pattern does not provide a tutorial for the basics of colorwork/tapestry crochet; however, alternate instructions are included for a solid version if you prefer to paint/needle felt the stripes.

A finished Thylacine made using Worsted Weight yarn is approximately 20” long from nose to tail, 8” tall from foot to shoulder, and 3.5” wide across the shoulders.

To make a Thylacine using Worsted weight yarn you will need:
Main color yarn (tan/medium brown): 260 yds
Stripe color yarn (dark brown): 20 yds
Nose color yarn (black): 3 yds
Belly/ear color yarn (ivory): 16 yds
G (4/4.25mm) crochet hook (or preferred amigurumi hook)
One pair of 18mm plastic safety eyes
Poly-fil or other stuffing
4 to 5 18-inch pieces of 18-gauge, paper-wrapped floral wire
Darning needle
Stitch markers
