Make your own Ophthalmosaurus! The Ophthalmosaurus patrolled the Jurassic seas around 165-150 million years ago. It’s huge eyes and streamlined body made it an excellent predator of ancient squid.

Pattern includes instructions for two versions: a multi-color Ophthalmosaurus using tapestry crochet, and a solid color Ophthalmosaurus with a belly applique. The 35 page pattern includes detailed step-by-step photos and clear written instructions to make an amigurumi-style Ophthalmosaurus. PLUS there is a 14 page printer-friendly TEXT ONLY version at the end of the pattern. This pattern has been fully tested by multiple testers. Includes yarn amounts and hook sizes to make an Ophthalmosaurus using worsted weight yarn.

Recommended for INTERMEDIATE SKILL LEVEL. This pattern uses basic crochet stitches and more complex stitches (detailed in the pattern glossary). The multi-colored version of the Ophthalmosaurus also uses colorwork/tapestry crochet. This pattern does not provide a tutorial for the basics of colorwork/tapestry crochet.

A finished Ophthalmosaurus made using Worsted Weight yarn is approximately 13” long from nose to tail tip, 5” tall from belly to dorsal fin, and 9.5” wide from anterior flipper tip to anterior flipper tip.

To make an Ophthalmosaurus using Worsted weight yarn you will need:
For multi-color:
Dark Color (dorsal aspect of body/back): 135 yds
Light Color (ventral aspect of body/belly): 90 yds
For solid color:

Belly Color: 20 yds
G (4/4.25mm) crochet hook (or preferred amigurumi hook)
One pair of 30mm plastic safety eyes
