Use this pattern to create a colourful ribbed crocheted beanie with eight variations: plain or striped, with or without a shaggy pom-pom, with or without a turned-up brim. This has been written for Great Southern Yarn’s 5-ply (sport) yarn but is easily adapted to different weights and yarns. It’s super simple to make and is a great handmade gift.

This pattern makes a very stretchy beanie that fits a wide range of head sizes. By incorporating a turned-up brim, kids can continue wearing it, turning down the brim as they grow. It is also easily adapted to thicker yarn but to get a nice full pom-pom, it’s best with finer yarn so there are more rows and therefore more tails.

Clear and easy to follow instructions for beginner crocheters. It uses UK terms but has simple translation instructions for US crocheters.
