This collection was inspired by the four elements of nature: Air, Water, Fire, and Earth, as well as the Explorer Knits Elements Yarn Club that was released in 2024. The colorways were absolutely stunning and perfectly reflective of the elements, so I decided to create one skein designs with each color.

The Ventus Mesh Shawl is the first pattern in the Elements Collection! This pattern was inspired by the element of Air. Ventus means “wind” in Latin, which I thought was the perfect name for a breezy mesh shawl.

This shawl is a symmetrical triangle, worked from one point with increases to the center, and then decreased to the opposite point. The edging is then worked at the end.

This pattern is adventurous beginner friendly, using only ch, sc, and dc stitches.

Pattern is written in US crochet terms.
Yarn: Sport/Light DK Weight (weight 3). Approximately 280 yards. I used Explorer Knits Rockies DK in the color AIR. Custom options are also included; yardage will vary.

Finished size: 85” long, 15.5” deep, after blocking. Or, work to any size using the custom instructions.
