updated in june 2025! make sure you’ve got the most up to date version

The Vivian Cardigan is a ribbed zip-up with a cosy double layered collar and extra wide raglan. This pattern is recommended for intermediate and advanced knitters since it involves techniques like provisional cast-on and Japanese short rows but instructions for these techniques and links to additional tutorials are included in the pattern.

Yarn requirements

Main yarn:

400 (450) 550 (550) (675) 725 (775) 825 g Filcolana Peruvian Highland Wool (100% wool, 100m/50g)
and
125 (125) 150 (150) 175 (200) 200 (225) 250 g Filcolana Alva (100% Alpaca, 175m/25g) held together

Facing yarn:

100 g Filcolana Arwetta (80% Merino, 20% Nylon, 210m/50g)

This is recommended for the facing because it
will be softer on the neck and wrists, but you
can also use your main yarn.

My samples are knit in 196 French Vanilla +
374 Lemon Curd, and 812 Granite Melange +
401/954 Light Grey Melange.

There’s alternative yarn suggestions in the pattern.

Other things you are going to need: 5mm circular needles, a second circular needle in the same or a similar size, scrap yarn in a contrasting colour, 10 stitch markers, separable zipper (two-way optional), tapestry needle, sewing needle, pins and matching thread
