I have turned my Wallflowers Hat design into a lovely cowl!

This fair isle cowl pattern is the result of a collaboration between me and my son, Bailey, who is talented with pixel art and an accomplished artist. We were inspired by the crocus flower and antique wallpaper.

The chart features a “jogless join” for the flowers that overlap the beginning of the rounds. There are hints and tips for making the best looking Wallflowers Cowl including the Cast On and Bind Off Edges I used to make my sample. Please note that there are some long floats in this pattern, so be sure to stretch out your stitches on your right needle before catching the floats behind your work.

I have used Rauma Finull PT2 in my samples of this cowl because they had the colors that I desired. This yarn is between a fingering and sport weight, so if you’d like to swap out for another favorite fingering weight wool like Jamieson & Smith or Knit Picks Palette, that should work fine as long as you use the correct needle size for your knitting style and technique to get the gauge. The cowl uses a large amount of a skein of the background color and minimal amounts of the other colors-- a great stash buster for those colors you have just enough of.

I’m excited to share this new design with all of you and to see your finished products on Ravelry or my Facebook page.
